A group of 100 Aurora area residents came out for part of the third annual National Day of Prayer and Protest Against Planned Parenthood, at 150 Planned Parenthood facilities in 37 states. More than 5,000 participated. Counter-protestors turned out in some locations as well, including a group in Aurora dressed the icon red robes of Margaret Atwood’s A Handmaid’s Tale. A major focus of the protest in Aurora, as with the entire nationwide event, was to call on president Donald Trump to change the rules governing Title X family planning funds to exclude Planned Parenthood and other abortion-providers from eligibility. This would deprive the organization of $60-80 Million annually.
