NASCAR Monster Energy series, Pocono 400, Pocono Raceway, Pocono, Pa., Sunday, June 3.
On a cool day in the Pocono Mountains, Martin Truex, Jr. took his second victory of the season over Kyle Larson. Following in third place was Kyle Busch, in fourth was Kevin Harvick, and in fifth was Brad Keselowski.
The pole-sitter was last year’s winner, Ryan Blaney. Early on in the first stage, Truex, Jr., Harvick, and Kyle Busch were in control with Truex, Jr., winning the first stage.
In the second stage it was Kyle Busch over Harvick.
The first car out of the race was Bubba Wallace, who skimmed the wall early in the third stage. Denny Hamlin’s car got loose and spun out and hit the wall with 12 laps to go and his car was towed to the garage.
Truex, Jr. got the jump over Larson on the re-start and in clean air he pulled away from the rest of the field and stayed there for his 17th career victory on one of his home tracks.
Harvick, again, blamed his loss on pit stops. Matt Kenseth finished 13th in the No. 6 Roush Fenway Ford up from 32nd place.
NASCAR Monster Energy series, Coca-Cola 600, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Concord, N.C., Sunday, May 27.
The longest Nascar race of the year, 600 miles, was won by Kyle Busch, who won all of the stages in a sweep. Following was Truex, Jr. in second place, Hamlin in third, Keselowski in fourth, and Jimmie Johnson in fifth.
Joey Logano started on the pole, but did not stay in the lead for long. Harvick, who won the $1 Million All-Star Race the prior week, took himself out after he spun out and hit the wall.
Blaney’s car went out in flames in the third stage and a yellow flag was issued.
Kyle Busch’s victory gave him a victory at all the tracks on the Nascar circuit .
