Musings:

•The Sins of Donald J. Trump (chapter six): He has:

Allowed a journalist to access classified military plans to combat the Houthis in Yemen;

Fired members of the board of trustees of the Kennedy Center and named himself as its chairperson;

Signed an executive order changing election rules, e.g. limiting proof of citizenship to birth certificates and passports, restricting the counting of ballots only to those received by election day, and directing the states to share voter lists with the Department of Homeland Security and with DOGE;

Signed an executive order to end collective bargaining with Federal agencies which engage in national security activities (and the list is long);

Obtained access to the Federal Personnel and Payroll System’s highly sensitive information;

Signed an executive order imposing reciprocal tariffs on 65 countries;

Fired Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, the only woman on NATO’s military committee, for being “woke”;

Fired General Timothy Hough (a Biden appointee), director of the National Security Agency, “without cause”;

Fired Colonel Suzanna Myers, commander of a military base in Greenland, for “undermining the chain of command” (she didn’t personally greet Vice President Vance on the latter’s visit);

Authorized the military to occupy and take jurisdiction of a strip of land on the southern border 60 feet wide in order to arrest “illegal immigrants” who “trespass” on “miliary property”;

Signed an executive order directing the Department of Justice to take action against states which force oil companies to pay for the damage they cause to the environment through pollution; and

Cut off funding to Al-Hurra’s Arabic-language TV broadcasts and news outlet and to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

•Have you noticed, dear reader, the strong winds coming out of the West? (On a few occasions, they have come out of the East.) I have experienced many strong windy days in my lifetime, but never have I experienced windy weeks until now. I am writing these words at the beginning of the tenth straight week of gales. Week 10! Can you believe it? It must be due to climate change, don’t you know?

Oh, wait! I forgot. Our Royal Majesty has declared climate change to be a “hoax.” So, it has to be due to T. Rump’s bellowing, because another Federal judge has not made nice to him. He bellows eastwardly, and the bellowing travels around the world and thus comes at us out of the West. That makes sense, right?

•Speaking of bellowing (oh, must we?), B.S. has identified me as a “Democrat,” despite the fact that I have identified myself in these pages not so long ago as an independent since 1968. I do not toe any party line; rather, I base my opinions on observation and deduction (much like Sherlock Holmes). This is not the first time, of course, that B.S. has re-written history to make a point, and I fear that it will not be the last time. He believes what he wants to believe, even if he has to pull his beliefs out of his backside.

Just a thought.
