The U.S. Census Bureau seeks individuals to fill several paid positions to help complete the 2020 Census.
As part of their efforts, officials from the Census Bureau will be holding upcoming recruiting events at the Fox Valley Park District’s three community centers, where residents can stop in and create a profile, before completing an application, both of which are done online.
The Census Bureau is committed to hiring census takers to work in their own communities. If hired, work schedules will depend on positions. Generally speaking, hours for field positions are flexible, though some require weekday work, while others require evening and weekend work for hired individuals to interview the public.
The lowest-paid position is $19.50 per hour and employees are paid weekly. To qualify for consideration, individuals must be at least 18 years of age, provide proof of U.S. citizenship, and successfully complete a background check.
“The goal is to get as many people to apply as possible,” said Sandi Demma, a recruiter assistant for the U.S. Census Bureau. “From clerks, to recruiters, to numerators who knock on doors, there are thousands of jobs in our area.”
Recruiting events will be held at the following locations:
• Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Avenue, Aurora, 8 a.m. to noon, Monday, Nov. 4;
• Eola Community Center, 555 S. Eola Road, Aurora, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Residents can apply online at 2020census.gov/jobs. For assistance, call 1-855-562-2020 or use the Federal Relay Service at 1-800-877-8339 for TTY/ASCII.
