Illinois State representative Stephanie Kifowit (D-Oswego) is set to participate in the annual Climate Emergency & Energy Security D.O.E Summit, co-hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), scheduled to take place November 15-16, 2023, in Washington, D.C. The summit, organized by the Energy Outreach and Policy Alliance (EOPA), will bring together officials from across the nation to be briefed by the White House and the Department of Energy about the community benefits stemming from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
The event will center around the implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), emphasizing opportunities to learn about the $369 billion in IRA funding, application criteria, and ways to apply for this historic investment in communities and prosperity. The focus will be on Justice40 communities and Veteran-owned businesses.
“I am honored to participate in the Climate Emergency & Energy Security Summit, where we will collaborate on strategies to address climate change and promote energy security,” said Kifowit. “The Inflation Reduction Act represents a significant step forward in supporting our communities, especially environmental justice communities and veteran-owned businesses. I am eager to work alongside fellow lawmakers and stakeholders to ensure that the benefits of the IRA reach those who need them the most.”
At the summit, attendees will have the chance to discuss policy ideas that will be shared with the administration. Additionally, elected officials from various states will highlight local opportunities and solutions benefiting from the IRA, and advocate for their communities, ensuring that the IRA directly benefits their constituents, communities, and the climate.
