Dear editor;
I have had this letter in my mind for a while, but I live in senior living where the conversation is often “How clever of you to know what day it is.” An opinion for another time.
I would like to thank The Voice for providing a need for Aurorans and other Fox Valley residents to connect. I see the reporters trying to keep up with the massive task. Organizations and government are included for no cost. With a small number of staff members, high publishing costs, and low subscription rates, I feel bad for any criticism they incur because they put out the newspaper every week.
The internet is a relatively good tool, but there are so many benefits to reading hard copy. Hard copy is a better way to digest what you read, form ideas, and is better for brain health.
What interests me is that the well-educated are realizing this fact. They are not discarding the internet, but have questions for its value as a sole source. They are trending back to newspapers and books. My concern is that this will increase the gap in this country by class. Parts of the population are almost being forced to the internet and social media.
Those of us who realize this fact need to support our publications, especially The Voice. In this day and age we need to support what is good, healthy, and objective, over what is trendy. Trends come and go.
At this time of Thanksgiving, I am thankful for The Voice.
