Unity Partnership will sponsor a backyard party on the grounds of Metea Valley High School, 1801 N. Eola Road in Aurora, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. The event is a celebration for an organization that was formed more than two years ago to bridge the community with police departments in Chicago’s western suburbs. There will be food, live music, sports, and a lot of fun.
Unity Partnership’s mission is to make a positive impact on the relationship between police and civilians. We will accomplish this mission by creating opportunities for interaction that foster a mutual understanding of each other, erase negative stereotypes, and develop new paths for dialogue in the community.
We are a dedicated group of civilians and police who work together to define what police and civilians should be doing, how we should be doing it, and why we all should be involved.
We realize change begins with ordinary individuals. The ordinary individuals at Unity Partnership have been building trust and relationships with various police departments by meeting with more than 25 chiefs of police across Illinois. We’re happy to announce many of those chiefs will be participating in this event which will be an excellent opportunity to promote unity in the community.
Our goal is to create an engaging environment that will allow police and civilians to learn more about each other, the different cultures, how we perceive one another, and ways to serve, protect, and respect the value of life. We want you to become a future partner with us so that together we can accomplish this mission through a joint effort.
