•Spanish Story Time (Facebook), Wednesday, Jan. 8 and 22, 1 p.m. on YPL Facebook Page.

•Tots & Toddlers, Thursday, Jan. 9 and Wednesday, Jan. 29, 10:30 a.m..

Join us for songs, stories, and dancing. Your child will receive a take home craft to complete. Please register on the YPL website.

•Spanish Story Time, Thursday, Jan. 9, 5:30 p.m..

Each month we will have volunteers from the YHS National Spanish Honor Society read books in Spanish to the group. This event is drop in. Please join us for this new program.

•LEGO Kits, January 13-18 (you choose the day and time that is convenient)

Come by the library during open hours the week of January 13. We will provide you a themed container of various LEGOs to use in the library. Using only the bricks provided and your creativity, make your build. Your creation will be added to the LEGO display at the library.

•Junior Threads & More, Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1 p.m..

Do you crochet, knit, needlepoint, sew, or quilt? Come hang out and work on your unfinished projects, show off finished projects, or check out what other people are doing.

•Toddler Play, Wednesday, Jan. 15, 10:30 a.m..

Caregivers and littles can stop by to play at the library and meet new friends. No registration needed.

•Book Club (grade 1-2), Thursday, Jan. 16 and 23, 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m..

In the two-session book club, we will read an easy-read chapter book. Please register for both dates on the YPL website.

•Stuffie Sleepover, Friday, Jan. 17, 4:30 p.m..

Have you ever wanted to stay the night in the library. Your stuffed animal has the chance. Drop off your stuffed animal with Ms Jennette and Ms Dodie before 5 pm Friday and let the adventure begin. We will explore the library, watch movies, have midnight snacks, make crafts, and maybe get some sleep. Please pick up your stuffed animal before 11 a.m. Saturday.

•Chess Club, Saturday, Jan. 18 through February 22, 11 a.m. to noon.

Chess Club is back! Register for any or all of the chess classes. Instructor, Tash Uray will provide instruction for beginners and advanced players.

•Literacy Centers, Tuesday, Jan.21 through Friday, Jan. 24.

Stop by anytime Tuesday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to experience a parent/child guided opportunity for hands-on literacy instruction. Literacy Centers are designed to give children ample opportunity to practice the very important skills of listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

•Books for BINGO, Monday, Jan. 20,2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m..

Books for BINGO is back. Bring the family to play BINGO for gently used books. When registering, please provide the number of people that will attend.

•Winter Walk at Harris Forest Preserve, Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m..

•My College Planning: Empower and Excel: Successful College Transition for High School Students with 504 Plans and IEP, Wednesday, Jan. 22, 6:30 p.m. (webinar)

This workshop ensures students with learning or physical differences are fully equipped to unleash their potential in college. Families learn to navigate college applications and disability disclosure, transition from high school IEPs/504 plans, learn to self-advocate for accommodations, utilize campus resources and supports, develop essential academic strategies and self-care, and build confidence, leadership, and responsibility. This workshop is recommended for parents of middle school and/or high school students.
