Veterans’ car parade, gifts, in St. Charles

Up to 100 vehicles will assemble in the parking lot of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1145 N 5th Avenue, St. Charles, at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, to proceed across town to the Kane County Fairgrounds, Oak Street entrance. Once inside Gate 2, the parade will encircle veterans from all four veterans’ posts, to safely distribute Christmas gifts and giveaways: American Legion Post 342, VFW Post 5036, AMVETS Post 503, and VVA Chapter 693 will be parked in a roped-off area.

Concurrently, Mick Sloan, Kane County Sportsman’s Show, has invited all veterans and car parade participants inside for free admission and coffee. Gifts and decorations for the Veterans Center in St. Charles have been donated by Lisa Drummond, Tracey Sheets and Heidi Diedrich, Random Acts Matter, veteran Jerry Ford, and Tracy Smodilla.

All veterans are welcome. Be sure to arrive at the Fairgrounds prior to 10:30 a.m. and park in the VIP Veterans area marked-off adjacent to the Robinson Building.
