The DeKalb American Veterans (AMVETS) Post 90 is at 421 Oak Street, DeKalb, and serves veterans and the community.
AMVETS starts off the 15th Annual Veterans Weekend with a meet and greet party Friday, July 29, that will honor all military personnel, veterans, current or retired, first responders, and health-care workers.
July 29, AMVETS will open at noon with food at 4:30 p.m., the Six Pack Band from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and a short program honoring the veterans, first responders and health-care workers at 6 p.m.. We ask the community to attend the short ceremony and help us honor them.
There are several activities during the Veterans Weekend that will be in DeKalb, Sycamore and Genoa, and will include a Living History Military Encampment, Motorcycle/Motorcade Parade of Vehicles, Veterans Awareness Fair, POW/MIA Remembrance Table Ceremony, spaghetti dinner, veterans and community breakfast, sportsman’s show and the Turning Back Time Car Show.
We ask the community to please come out during the weekend, but especially to attend the short program Friday, July 29 at 6 p.m..
