VNA Health Care host to panel

A dozen local to national experts shared views on lowering health care costs at VNA Health Care Monday.

VNA was host to the session at its Aurora headquarters.

Linnea Windel, VNA executive director, moderated the gathering designed to highlight how the Inflation Reduction Act is lowering health care costs.

National politicians participating included Congressman Bill Foster and Democratic Whip Katherine Clark.

Local officials participating were State representative Barbara Hernandez and Michael Isaacson, executive director, Kane County Health Department.

Agencies represented were Illinois Department on Aging, N. Ill.Agency on Aging, Access DuPage, Duly Health and Care and Crusader Community Health, Rockford.

The IRA, signed into law last year, caps insulin at $35 per month for Medicare beneficiaries. Additionally, the act caps annual out-of-pocket costs for prescriptions covered by Medicare Part D at $2,000 and allows federal negotiation of selected prescription drug prices with pharmaceutical companies.
