The Northern Illinois University Department of Athletics announced Tuesday, Sept. 14 that the Saturday Sept. 18 volleyball match against nationally-ranked No. 2 University of Wisconsin at Victor E. Court in DeKalb is sold out.
A limited number of tickets will be made available for Northern Illinois students for Saturday’s match on a first-come, first-served basis when the gates open at 5 p.m..
Northern Illinois takes a four-match winning streak into this final weekend of non-conference play. The Huskies were 3-0 at the Buccaneer Invitational at Charleston Southern over the weekend, by defeating the host Buccaneers, Bethune-Cookman, and The Citadel.
Northern Illinois senior middle blocker Jasmine Kemp of DeKalb earned Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts last weekend. Kemp hit .413 and averaged 3.30 kills and 0.90 blocks per set at Charleston Southern. Setter Grace Balensiefer was named MAC West Setter of the Week after averaging more than 12 assists per set in the Huskies’ three victories.
Wisconsin entered the week ranked No. 2 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25 poll. The Badgers were 6-0 on the season after victories over Kentucky and at Marquette last weekend. Wisconsin reached the national semifinals of the 2020 NCAA Volleyball Championship, tournament held in the recent Spring. The Badgers are the highest-ranked opponent to play in DeKalb since a third-ranked University of Southern California squad played the Huskies in the 2013 season.
