Dear editor;
It’s too late now, but I sure hope that the Fair Tax vote went down in flames! Our daughter and son-in-law have portrayed the Lincolns for many years, and Max knows all of Abe’s comments. The two I’m sure ring true for this time, are about the U.S. Constitution. In 1856 Lincoln said “Don’t interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.”
And another comment so necessary for our government (especially for Illinois today):
“The people- the people- are the rightful masters of both Congresses, and Courts,-not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert it.”
I am of the opinion that public servants, should not become millionaires while serving us! We are their bosses!
Are you listening, Durbin and Madigan et al?
In my opinion , that’s what is happening in Springfield today. I believe the men, and women in Springfield left out one word in their promise that they would not tax retirement payments. That word is yet. Our governor wasted millions of tax dollars on fixing up McCormick Place for the influx of what? 10 people or less. He wasted millions of dollars on defective face masks, and the cost of getting them here. That money sure didn’t come from Pritzker’s stash, and needs to be replaced. How? Well, of course, raise the taxes! Not on income, but on everything else. Don’t need a master’s degree to figure that out.
Our governor’s family is in the hotel business. Wonder if they worked to get him his job to keep him from destroying their business like he’s destroying the businesses of so many. And his adamancy at not allowing healthy kids who need to play games to qualify for scholarships. I’m pretty sure he will be a one-term governor, but oh how badly he can fumble in Illinois during the time he has left.
