Ever wonder how Oswego’s downtown business district evolved to become the vibrant collection of shops and offices it is today?
Find out when the Oswegoland Heritage Association and the Little White School Museum host “Oswego History Tour – Downtown,” starting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23.
All communities evolve and change with time and Oswego is no different. Join the museum and the heritage association for a leisurely walk through the heart of downtown south along Main Street from Jefferson Street to Washington Street.
The walk’s guides will point out historic landmarks, talk about the types of stores and businesses that first appeared when the village was newly-formed, discuss the critical role that fires had in shaping the village, and explore the significant changes that have occurred during the past several decades with Oswego’s growth.
This OHA tour will begin and end in front of the Oswego Public Library in downtown Oswego. Bring your walking shoes!
Preregistration, required due to space limitations, is $5. To pre-register, call the Oswegoland Park District at 630-554-1010. Proceeds benefit the museum’s operations.
The Little White School Museum is a joint project of the not-for-profit Oswegoland Heritage Association and the Oswegoland Park District.
