West Aurora High School will celebrate 150 years of excellence at its Red and Blue Ball at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 at Pipers Banquets, 1295 Butterfield Road, Aurora. The evening will include dinner, open bar, and dancing at the black tie optional affair. Tickets are $75 each and will go on sale November 23.

Montgomery will honor holiday displays
The Montgomery Beautification Committee will sponsor its Holiday Decorations Contest for homes and businesses to be honored for exceptional holiday displays. Judges will give priority for awards to homes and businesses which are nominated for consideration. December 12, committee members and volunteer judges will visit the nominated addresses to select the winners.

Donations to Dominican Literacy invited
Aurora’s Dominican Literacy Center in Aurora invites donations Tuesday, Nov. 27, through Giving Tuesday, a national online social movement.
Center director Sister Kathleen Ryan, said “Giving Tuesday inspires people to give back after Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday have come and gone. DLC donors can do good, quickly, and easily.”
Donations can be made at Dominicanliteracycenter.org, click on Ways to Help, click on Donate through MightyCause.
According to Sister Ryan, the DLC raised $8,000 in last year’s Giving Tuesday.
