Domestic violence name change proposal
Concerned about the safety of survivors of domestic violence and other crimes, State representative Linda Chapa LaVia, D-Aurora, put legislation on the governor’s desk that would help survivors escape their abusers by allowing them to change their names without public notice.
Additionally, Senate Bill 2330 would allow survivors to omit personal address information from court documents if their safety is at risk.
