The Wheaton Police Department’s Polar Plunge team, Frosted Donuts, officially took the plunge Saturday. The team was thrilled to be joined by Special Olympics athlete Becky Cavanagh. The sun was shining, and the water was a balmy 42 degrees. The Frosted Donuts consists of 26 voluntary participants from the Wheaton Police Department, Wheaton Fire Department, and Community Unit School District 200. This year is the first the Wheaton Police Department participated in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. The team was in 1st place out of 48 teams, having raised more than $20,000.
