Even in acknowledging that a newspaper does not have the capability of including every news item within its pages, when The Voice is completed each week, the editor understands worthy articles were left behind, not included.
The reader may not measure articles that way and look at only what appears within the pages, what is visible. That process is regular in its element. The reader may not take the time to think of news in such a way, therefore, we take our jobs seriously.
One item left behind last week was the following which should be included because of its importance:
“In honor of Women’s History Month in March, the City of Naperville and North Central College will be partners to be host to Coming together to Lead Well: A Community Conversation.”
The event will be the coming Saturday, March 23, so there is little time for preparation to join the group. The free event, open to all, will be from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23 in the Madden Theatre on the lower level of Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Avenue in Naperville on the campus of North Central College.
Registration is required, so the clock is ticking. For more details go to https://naperville.il.us/embrace-community. Perhaps visitors still can find a way to see the event.
“A panel of distinguished women will share their experiences, followed by an empowering, interactive dialogue with the assembled audience of campus and community members. The aim is for women from many walks of life to share in conversation, uplifting women’s well-being, and envisioning a community that helps fulfil the mission to create an inclusive community that values diversity.”
The panel will include, Dr. Anita Thomas, president of North Central College; Becca Bruner, co-pastor, Knox Presbyterian Church; Anita Knotts, founder and chief executive of the Lotus Women’s Institute; Nicole Lawton, librarian at Naperville Public Library, Diana Torres Hawken, co-founder, Alliance of Latinos Motivating Action in The Suburbs.
