Yorkville Public Library provides youth many events, experiences

The Yorkville Public Library Youth Service Department will have many events this month. All events will take place at the Library, 902 Game Farm Road, unless otherwise noted. For more information, or to register, call 630-553-4354 or visit www.yorkville.lib.il.us.

• Virtual 3-D Printing.

Leah English provides a step-by- step tutorial on how to use Tinkercad. Tinkercad is an easy to use 3D CAD design tool, where you can create an object that we can print on our 3D printer. Please check out the Library’s website to link to the YPL YouTube channel, and follow the steps to create your own 3D printed piece. Prints cost $0.20 per gram.

• 2021 Summer Reading Program: Reading Colors Your World, June 1 – July 31.

This year the program is divided between June and July. We are challenging our young patrons to read 425 minutes each month! At the end of each month, children can submit their reading log to be entered into the Grand Prize Raffle. Simply record your child’s minutes on the print log available at the Library or use the online portal to record your minutes through the YPL website (under Summer reading). Using the online portal will allow for weekly challenges and prizes.

The grand prize will be drawn August 2.

• Facebook Spanish Story Time, Thursday, July 1 and July 15 on YPL Facebook Page

Join Señora Katalina on the Yorkville Public Library Facebook page for Story Time in Spanish. This is recorded for your convenience.

• Window Art, Thursday, July 1 – Saturday, July 3 by appointment at YPL.

Those who participate can help liven up the Library with window art. Due to restrictions, please contact the Youth Service Department for an appointment time at 630-553-4354 ext 108. Space is limited.

• Drop In Story Time (virtual), Every Friday on YPL Facebook

Each Friday morning watch Ms Jennette read a story on the Yorkville Public Library Facebook page.

• Drop In Story Time (at YPL), Every Friday at 10:30 a.m..

The YPL every Friday at 10:30 a.m. will hold a Drop-In Story Time. This story time will be held in the large meeting room, the Michelle Pfister Room. Face masks and social- distancing are required.

• Chalk the Walk, Friday, July 2 at 11 a.m..

Join us for outdoor fun at the library! Ms Jennette will read a book, then each child will have an area to decorate using sidewalk chalk. Weather permitting.

• Book Club, 3rd and 5th Grade, Tuesday, July 6 and 20, 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m..

In this two session book club, the participants will receive the book, “Hello, Universe” July 6 and read it at home. Then it will be discussed at the following session July 20. Please register for both days on the YPL website. * Face masks and social distancing are required. Artist at Work

• Wednesday, July 7, 14, 21, and/or 28, 11 a.m., ages five and older

Each Wednesday in July, we will have a different art activity. Join us for one or all as we explore several different mediums. Space is limited, register online for your spot. *Dress for the mess

• Artist at Work, Wednesday, July 7 and 21, 2 p.m.

Teens can create tile coasters one day and making key chains from Shrinky Dinksin the next session. All the materials are provided, we just need you! Register, space is limited.

• Tots and Toddlers, Thursday, July 8 and Monday, July 27, 10:30 a.m..

Join us in the Michelle Pfister Meeting Room for songs, stories, and dancing. Your child will receive a take home craft to complete. Register today and Ms Jennette will see you soon! • Crochet Club, July 8, 12, and 15, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., ages to 10-18.

In this three session Crochet Club program, children will learn basic crochet stitches. The first session will provide beginning, basic instruction to start creating a bath mitt. The final project is a satchel/purse to hold an item of their choice. Materials are available for purchase or you can provide your own. The Crochet Club is being held in the large meeting room to provide social distancing. If you are not fully vaccinated, you will need a mask. Please register. Space is limited.

• TAG, Teen Advisory Group at the Yorkville Public Library, Tuesday, July 13.

This year our TAG members are focusing on “BE THE CHANGE” by giving back to the community. Teens in grades eight to 12 get together to share ideas about the teen area in the library and how to provide for Yorkville. They help create and plan programs. This group also has opportunities to earn volunteer hours. Great chance to meet new people and have some fun and laughs.

• Book Club, 1st and 2nd grade, Thursday, July 15 and 22, 4 p.m. at the Yorkville Public Library.

In this two session book club, we will read an easy chapter book. Please register for both days on the YPL website. *Face masks and social distancing are required.

• Movie Monday for Kids, Monday, July 19, 1 p.m..

Get out of the heat and relax by watching a free movie with your family. Join us in the large meeting room (Michelle Pfister Room) to watch the movie “Onward”. Please register the total number of people who will be in attendance on the YPL Calendar of Events page. Face masks and social distancing are required.
