• Every Monday this month, Crafts To Go!
Stop at the Library for a craft kit. These kits are available each Monday in the Library foyer while supplies last. Weekly craft kits include: Scratch Art, Origami, Zentangle, paper weaving. Limit one kit per child.
• Every Tuesday in August on YPL Facebook, Tuesday Build Challenge
Every Tuesday until the end of the month, there will be a build challenge on the Yorkville Public Library Facebook page. Participants can use LEGOs, blocks, paper.
• Every Friday on YPL Facebook, Drop In Story Time (virtual).
Each Friday morning Ms Jennette will read a story on Yorkville Public Library Facebook.
• Mondays, August 10 and 24 at 4:30 at the Yorkville Public Library, Book Club, third through fifth grades.
In the two-session book club, participants will receive the book “Knucklehead” by Jon Scieszka August 10. It will be discussed August 24. Please register for both days on the YPL website. Face masks and social distancing are required.
• Wednesday, Aug. 12, 10 a.m. at Hoover Forest Preserve, Hoover Story Walk.
The Yorkville Library and Hoover Forest Preserve are partners again to provide a Story Walk at Hoover Forest Preserve. The Summer’s featured book is “From Head to Toe”. We must limit this program to 25 participants. Do not delay in registering on Yorkville Public Library website. The Hoover education staff is fabulous and very knowledgeable. • Thursday, Aug. 13 and 20, 4:30 p.m. at the Yorkville Public Library, Book Club- first and second grade.
In the two-session book club, we will read the book, Bones and the Big Yellow Mystery by David Adler. It is an easy reader chapter book. Please register for both days on the YPL website. *Face masks and social distancing are required.
• Friday, Aug. 14, 10:30 a.m. to at Yorkville Public Library, Drop In Story Time (at Library)
Join us at YPL for Drop In Story Time, Ms. Jennette will share stories about back to school. Face masks and social distancing are required.
• Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2:45 p.m., TAG (Teen Advisory Group) at the Yorkville Public Library
Teens in grades eighth through 12th can get together to share ideas about the teen area in the library. They will help create and plan programs. This group has opportunities to earn volunteer hours. Great chance to meet new people and have some fun and laughs. Face masks and social distancing are required.
• Thursday, Sept. 3, 3 p.m., YA Teen Book Club at the Yorkville Public Library.
Leah English will lead the group in a discussion about this month’s book, “American Royals” by Katharine McGee. The book is available for pick up prior to meeting on Sept. 3 at the Youth Service desk.
