The recently-formed city of Aurora Youth Council (AYC) held its inaugural YOUTHTalk forum at Prisco Center in Aurora Tuesday. The event moderated by members of the AYC focused on how to be a mindful member of school communities and take preventive measures to promote safety. The event was free and open to the public. The panel consisted of elected officials and professionals in various fields related to school safety. The AYC was created under the Richard C. Irvin administration and provides leadership development opportunities for Aurora youth. The AYC assumes an advisory role for the mayor and leadership on issues related to the youth population as well as being involved in conducting outreach and engagement activities to ensure involvement in Aurora.
