On April 14, 2019 at 8:40 p.m., the Aurora Fire Department responded to 7 S. Stolp in downtown for visual smoke on the 17th floor for a 21-story apartment building. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy fire coming out of a window on the 17th floor. The alarm was upgraded bringing a total of 41 firefighters to the scene. Firefighters made their way to the fire floor to extinguish the fire and assisted multiple occupants down the interior stairs. One occupant was treated and transported to an area hospital with minor smoke inhalation. It took approximately 20 minutes to extinguish the fire, however units remained on the scene for three hours. The apartment where the fire occurred was deemed uninhabitable displacing one occupant, however all other units in the building were unaffected. The estimated total dollar loss is $100,000 and the cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries to firefighters.
