Grace Holistic Center For Education, Grade 6 –

This year, the Evolutions sixth grade through eighth grade class of Grace Holistic Center For Education, did a lot of stuff through the year, but one of my favorite things was writing a research paper on a topic of our choice.

I chose the history of hockey. We went to the library every day for a week to gather information about our topic. Honestly, it was fun going to the library and doing research about a topic that we chose. We did online research with chromebooks, just like the one I am using to write this article, and library computers to read magazine articles.

I really learned a lot about the history of my favorite sport. Did you know that the first hockey puck was frozen cow dung? That was one of the many facts that I learned while researching for my paper. Sadly, we stopped going to the library and had to go back to class and start writing our essays. While we were at the library we took little notes about interesting facts or quotes that we found in the books we read. That is what helps make our essays. Along with the note cards we cited every source we used from book to website.

In conclusion, I think that it was an amazing experience that I learned a lot. I learned how to search the library for books more efficiently.

Another cool fact about hockey is that Bobby Hull shot the fastest puck in recorded history, at 118 miles per hour. Hull was regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. His blonde hair, legendary skating speed, end to end rushes, and the ability to shoot the puck at very high velocity, all were a part of the player known as “The Golden Jet”.
