In celebration of National Poetry Month, April, the Fox Valley Music Foundation will be host to a call for poems. This call is open to any student writer, kindergarten through college, currently residing in the Fox Valley region of Illinois. Submission deadline is 5 p.m., March 31. No exceptions!
Each poet may submit one original poem with the theme of Jazz. The poem may be written in any language; however, submissions must submit a translation in English.
The work may have been previously published, as long as the submission does not violate any arrangements with a publisher.
The maximum length of a poem is 20 lines, including the space between stanzas.
Poems must be in a Microsoft Word document attached to an E-mail sent to kfc16@sbcglobal.net. Do not put name on the Microsoft Word document. In the body of the E-mail, include name, age, grade in school, the school enrolled, postal mailing address, phone number, and your E-mail address.
Poems will be reviewed by a jury comprised of members of the Fox Valley Music Foundation Board and the Aurora Poet Laureate. Authors will be acknowledged in publicity and media releases. Authors retain the rights to their work. Authors will receive no financial compensation. Posters on which the poems may be displayed are the property of the Fox Valley Music Foundation.
Writers submitting work must be available to read their work Sunday, April 26, at The Venue, 21 S. Broadway, Aurora. Details and a schedule will be provided once selections have been made.
