State representative Stephanie Kifowit to Host Free Senior Citizens Food Distribution Drive-Thru August 17

State representative Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, in coordination with the Kane Senior Council and State representative Barbara Hernandez, will be hosts to a free Food Distribution Drive-Thru event for seniors from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at the Aurora Police Department, 1200 E. Indian Trail Road in Aurora.

“Throughout the pandemic, many of our older residents have been impacted as they continue to practice social distancing and stay away from crowded areas like grocery stores,” said Kifowit. “This event is designed to safely and conveniently provide take-home meals for those who need them.”

The event is for residents of Kane County who are at least 60 years old. Each attendee is eligible for five frozen meals, but are required to register for the event ahead of time by contacting Kifowit’s office at 630-585-1308. Joining Kifowit at the event will be State representative Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora.

“Food scarcity is a real issue affecting the day-to-day lives for many seniors in our community during this global pandemic,” said Kifowit. “I encourage all Kane County residents who are interested to call my office today so we can serve you this Monday at the Aurora Police Department.”
