Mark Gaffino, four term Village Board trustee and lifelong resident announced earlier this week a run for North Aurora Village president.

Gaffino said, “I am running for village president because I truly care about our Village. Having been born and raised here, it has become a part of my identity. But more importantly, I care about the people who make up our great Village; my neighbors, my fellow business owners, the faith communities and certainly those who have committed their lives to serve and protect. A village is not a village without the people.

“I am personally committed to North Aurora and I have demonstrated this commitment through 25 years of municipal experience. North Aurora is my home, and has been my entire life. It’s here that I raised my family, started my business, and spent the last 25 years serving our Village in various capacities. Despite my longtime involvement in our community, I don’t consider myself a politician, as much as I consider myself a North Auroran with a genuine desire to serve the people of North Aurora. I’d like the citizens to know that I am personally committed to the well-being of all its people, and to the ongoing growth of our Village”.

He knows how to get things done. In the 25 years of service to the community he has served in a variety of roles. He serves North Aurora as the North Aurora Village president pro tempore, has been serving as a North Aurora Village trustee for more than 15 years and serves as chair of two significant Village committees, the North Aurora Services Committee and the North Aurora Days Committee. Gaffino is a past member of the Planning Commission Board and past chair of the Police Commission.

He somehow finds the time for involvement in many community-based organizations. He’s been treasurer of the North Aurora Lions Club for the past 12 years and has been a member for 22 years. He has been a North Aurora baseball coach 15 years, a North Aurora youth basketball coach five years, and still finds the time to serve as a member of the Board of Directors at The Orchard Church.

As he has demonstrated consistently over many years he has promised to continue an open-door policy and as such, will listen to any concerns from residents if elected as North Aurora Village president.
