On a warm and beautiful night, Saturday, Aug. 7 the Sycamore Speedway, in Maple Park was host to the Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora’s, “Race to Fight Diabetes”.
Tiffany Olson, general manager of Sycamore Speedway, turned the race track over to the Cosmos to bring an awareness about diabetes, to the more than 2,000 race fans in attendance.
Pete Fabrizius, track announcer, kept reminding the race fans about the efforts of the Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora in their fight against diabetes, through research at the University of Chicago Medicine-Kovler Diabetes Center, ADA Summer Camps for Diabetic Children, Diabetes Education at the Rush-Copley Diabetes Educational Center, and helping diabetics in obtaining Diabetic Alert Dogs.
The Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora tent was a beehive of activity when race fans stopped to sign up for the door prize and 50/50 cash drawings, to make donations.
Donna Carter, a certified diabetes educator from the Rush-Copley Diabetes Educational Center and a member of the Cosmo Club, answered questions about diabetes.
