The Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry (AAIFP) was host to its 15th Annual Holiday Food Drive last month. The community stepped up in a big way. With a total of 11,374 pounds of groceries and more than $115,000 donated in just three weeks, this year’s drive was the most successful.
“We put out a call to action, asking for help from our community, and people responded with kindness and generosity,” said Shannon Cameron, executive director at AAIFP. “The groceries and funds donated last month will ensure that no one is turned away from the Pantry and that the holidays will be a bit brighter for thousands of our neighbors.”
This Fall, the Pantry saw a staggering 91% increase in families seeking food assistance, compared to the same time last year. The holiday food drive couldn’t have come at a better time.
