Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora will be host to a Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) mobile food truck market from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, in the church parking lot, 14 N. May Street.

The drive-thru event features distribution of free food, including breads, cereals, meat, dairy, and fresh produce.

Individuals and families are welcome. No ID, proof of income, or referral is needed.

Mobile markets are first-come, first-served while supplies last. Items vary depending on availability.

The mobile market is a traveling food pantry that delivers free food products to communities where the need for food surpasses the capacity of existing food pantry resources. Volunteers assist in distributing food.

In contrast to mobile markets, food pantries are brick and mortar buildings typically located in community buildings, churches and/or commercial spaces. There are over 200 food pantry locations throughout NIFB’s 13-county service area, including Kane, DuPage and Kendall counties.

NIFB works with food pantries, mobile food truck markets and soup kitchens which distribute perishable and non perishable foods that clients can choose from based on dietary needs. NIFB distribution centers are in Geneva, Lake Forest, Joliet and Rockford.

As part of the national Feeding America network, NIFB provides neighbors with 250,000 meals per day. For more information, visit solvehungertoday.org.
