The Aurora GreenFest will be Saturday! Wonderful exhibitors from our forest preserves, park districts, green businesses, green car owners, and artists all will be at the Prisco Community Center and the beautiful McCullough Park to help everyone learn more about taking care of the Earth. The GreenFest always makes it fun to learn about the environment and sustainability.

The 2018 Aurora GreenFest will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at Prisco Community Center and McCullough Park, 150 West Illinois Avenue, in Aurora. The Aurora GreenFest is a free event for the whole family.

For many years we have had beautiful weather for the GreenFest, but this year it might be a little damp. The GreenFest will still go on! We have a huge space inside Prisco Community Center and we will do our best to bring our outside exhibitors inside, if necessary. Our rain plan is that the GreenFest will go on, come rain or come shine.

We will have new exhibits at the GreenFest this year, and most of our favorites from past years. Nature exhibits will include goat yoga, bats, bees, skunks, chickens, and other creatures which are always big favorites. Loving nature is one way to teach children and grown-ups to protect the earth. Live music and food will add to the fest. Green-friendly solar energy sources will show ways to save money and save the world at the same time.

Other great exhibits will include:

• A do-it-yourself owner-led bike, car, and truck show with electric vehicles, including a new Tesla, a Nissan Leaf, and a Chevy Volt;

• A Kids Eco-village with games, crafts, and recycled art projects, kids teaching kids, and fancy face-painting;

• A market and trade show with more than 100 exhibitors;

• Aurora area organic farmers.

“This year’s GreenFest is going to be the best one ever,” said Mavis Bates, festival founder, and organizer. “Now more than ever it’s important that we grow and nurture our local sustainability movement. We love bringing our community together to celebrate our planet.”
