The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley will hold its April “Meet and Greet”, organized by media chairperson, Ann McBride, to expose our Club and our mission, Saturday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Panera Bread, in the Yorkville Marketplace, 1206 North Bridge Street, in Yorkville.

Plan on stopping by, meet some of our members, pickup information on diabetes, prediabetes, healthy meal planning, and our “Diabetic Recipes” booklet, while enjoying a tasty treat, and great coffee!

Several members from the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley attended Aurora Senior Services Associates noon meeting, held April 1, at 2111 Plum Street in Aurora.
Amanda Creighton, activity coordinator, for Senior Services Associates, arranged for our Club to tell our story and talk about the dangers of uncontrolled blood sugar (glucose).

Diabetes Club member, Emily Hamaker, a graphic designer serving on our Club’s media committee, prepared and narrated the PowerPoint presentation about our Club and the fight against diabetes.
Russ George, president of the Diabetes Club, gave a brief history of the Club, thanked everyone in attendance, especially Senior Services, activity coordinator, Amanda Creighton, for inviting us.
Gil Feliciano, business development coordinator, from VNA Health Care, and a member of the Diabetes Club, spoke briefly before introducing Elisa Lara, RN, BSN, from VNA Health Care.
Elisa Lara, is a seasoned and dedicated healthcare professional, with over two decades of experience in her role as a community health nurse.

Nurse Elisa Lara spoke about the dangers of diabetes, while getting everyone involved in breathing exercises, along with answering questions.

Uncontrolled blood sugar (glucose) can cause vision problems, heart problems, nerve damage, dental problems, and kidney damage.
Eat healthy, stay active and have a yearly blood test, to stay diabetes free!
The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a true grassroots organization, where all money raised through dues, donations and fundraising is used for the club’s fight against diabetes.
