Sixth annual “Dan Jakusz Night”, fundraiser, to benefit the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley, will be held Saturday, Aug. 1, at Joliet Slammers Stadium, 1 Mayor Art Schultz Drive, Joliet. Joliet Slammers vs. New York Boulders. First pitch at 6 p.m..
Nick Jakusz, organizes this yearly fundraiser to honor his father, Dan, a T1D, who fought diabetes for many years.

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley will participate in Aurora alderman, Carl Franco’s, Fifth Ward National Night Out (NNO), Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Salvation Army facility, 550 Redwood Drive, in Aurora, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.. Participants can enjoy free music, games, pizza, and beverages!
Stop by our Tent! Pick up literature explaining prediabetes, diabetes and healthy eating, along with our new diabetic recipes booklet. Children will receive a Diabetes Club Frisbee!
National Night Out was introduced in August of 1984. NNO has grown to become a celebration beyond just front porch vigils and efforts amongst neighbors to send messages of neighborhood camaraderie. Neighborhoods across the nation now are hosts to block parties, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, along with visits from local police, firefighters and emergency personnel.
Former senator, Kay Bailey Hutchison, stated “The best way to build a safer community is to know your neighbors and your surroundings. National Night Out triumphs over a culture that isolates us from each other and allows us to rediscover our own communities”.
The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley meets monthly, on the second Wednesday of each month, January through November, at Oak Street Restaurant, 945 Oak Street, in North Aurora. Optional Dinner at 5:30 p.m.. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m.. Guests are always welcome!
