Poem: A Morning Ritual

Share this article:

No matter if you get up at the crack of dawn,
The first thing that you do is put the coffee on.
And everybody knows not to get in your way
Until you’ve had your coffee, and that means every day.

And if this morning ritual becomes engrained,
You may well think that now you have them aptly trained.
You well may fail to see this a defensive move
In hoping that your disposition will improve.

This morning ritual is not just yours alone;
Its popularity may well seem cut in tone.
To all those who will have to go through this each morn,
How often do you wish you’d see a smile was worn!
