Poem: A Non-Scientist Muses

I’m tired of having Science attempt to push aside
Those things it can’t explain, and even seek to hide.
Plus this, on many things it’s forced to recognize
It gives a learned explanation not too wise,
But one we have to stomach, for it so insists
Our thoughts mean nothing for we are not scientists.
“Because we said so” may not be the words they use,
But just the same it’s there in terms we cannot lose.
In certain fields of science, theory dominates,
Since concrete evidence is lacking, no debates.
For instance, the Neanderthal, science does attest,
Are seen as lumbering dim-witted ones at best.
But they were dominate 100,000 years,
Lived through at least two Ice Ages, so it appears,
With minor tools and weaponry considered weak,
So all of this foredooms them, since they could not speak.
But they did live for centuries, with ample food,
Which means they got along quite well though being crude.
To do that, and be called dim-witted, makes no sense;
Surviving in extremes of weather good evidence.
So I believe that they had talents we know not;
Perhaps far more sophisticated than is thought.
Of course, I’m not a scientist, no common link,
So those who say they are care not for what I think!
