A reaction to question on Christopher Columbus

Dear editor;

Five smiling faces enjoying their put down of Christopher Columbus were in A Voice for your opinions, thevoice.us/a-voice-for-your-opinions-what-are-your-thoughts-on-chicago-public-schools-changing-columbus-day-to-indigenous-peoples-day. I asked myself, have any of them read a biography of his life? Many books are available expressing various points of view contrary to the public schools’ rendition of him.

The lefts’ yearly targeting of Columbus has become another “Good Friday” for them. Crucifying an Italian Catholic ranks high with them. The press never reports that he is on the list of those being considered for Sainthood. It won’t matter if his foes succeed in removing him from public recognition and honor. He always will be part of All Saints Day.

  1. I am sick and tired of being told that some one is a great hero because of his religious affiliation. Just because one church chooses to ignore the biblical fact that the dead are dead and know nothing, the entire world is expected to pray to dead people in violation of God’s written law? Get off of it, already! The idea behind changing the Columbus Day holiday to Indigenous People day is to honor those who occupied the area before Europeans accidentally found and then slaughtered them. What right do I have to speak on the topic? I am 1/4 Italian and 1/4 Mohawk. I can see both sides of the issue and I agree with the idea of respecting our ancestors.
