The American Legion Riders Post #181 from Sandwich coordinated “Bowl for Vets” Saturday, Jan. 28 at Sandwich Idle Hour Lanes. Legion members who who coordinated the event, top photo, from left, are, Sandy Lawrence, Adam Arnett, Sally and Bill Kolb, Henry Herbst, Sam Mataya, Cliff Oleson, Bob Mauer, Linda Oleson, Cherie Mauer, Mike Rennels, and Bob Lawrence. There was bowling, winning prizes, food, raffles, seeing friends, making friends, and having a great time. Below photo, cash prizes were awarded to first place, Charlie Waller (bowled 852 series with handicap), second place tie, Philip Schmidt and Jaylen Dion (each bowled 839 series with handicap). Sandy and Bob Lawrence coordinated the event, Sandwich Idle Hour Lanes provided the facility and took reservations, great community turnout, and many businesses donating items for our raffles. Proceeds from this event will be sent to Rolling Thunder to further educate the public that many American prisoners of war were left behind after all previous wars and to protect future veterans from being left behind should they become prisoners of war-missing in action. Rolling Thunder sends checks to veterans in need for rent, utilities, mortgage, and car repairs. -Linda Oleson
