April is national poetry month, and applications are open for the next Aurora Poet Laureate and the first Aurora Youth Poet Laureate.
Established in 2020, the Aurora Poet Laureate celebrates the heritage, uniqueness, diversity, and achievements of the City of Aurora through the art and appreciation of poetry. Selected for a two-year term, the next Aurora Poet Laureate will be appointed in May 2024.

The inaugural Aurora Youth Poet Laureate will be a voice for Aurora’s youth through poetry. The Youth Poet Laureate Program aims to foster creativity, amplify diverse voices, and inspire the next generation of poets and leaders by providing youth with opportunities to showcase their talent and engage with the community.
Eligible applicants must be Aurora residents between the ages of 13 and 19 at the time of the application, which must be submitted by May 1, 2024.
