The Aurora Public Library (APL) Bookmobile has been off road for 33 days for emergency repairs so far this year. It has interrupted services, including school visits and community stops! It is why the time is now to raise funds for a new Bookmobile for Aurora!

Imagine a new Bookmobile that would allow for better access to technology, maybe computers available for use while the Bookmobile stops in your neighborhood. How about speakers for Ms Sheri’s storytime songs? Of course, the Bookmobile still will bring your favorite books, movies, audiobooks and, of course, your favorite staff members to chat. For a new Bookmobile to come to life, we need your help.

The Aurora Public Library Foundation will be host to a fundraising event, Magic in Motion, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Santori Library. The fundraiser will be a wine and craft beer-tasting with the great tastes of August Hill Winery, Galena Cellars, Illinois Sparkling Co., 4 Hands Brewery, Oswego Brewing, and Riverlands Brewing Company while supporting bookmobile services. A ticket purchase includes open bar, appetizers, great music and a live auction with exclusive packages. Auction items will include overnight packages, museums passes, and wine-tastings. On the special night, we will honor two iconic organizations within our community. The Aurora Police Department will receive the Lifelong Learning Inspiration Award and the College of DuPage will receive the Thomas J. Weisner Education Collaboration Award.

Tickets can be purchased for $50 or donate any amount to the bookmobile by visiting our Foundation’s website at APLFoundationIL.org. All proceeds from this event will benefit a new Bookmobile for Aurora, and help provide library access to homebound and township residents!

Those who cannot attend the event can make a donation, which can make a difference.

• $33 provides early literacy tools to an at-risk child;

• $50 helps a person get their GED;

• $85 helps a homebound neighbor;

• $135 provides a Light of Learning Scholarship for a township family in need;

• $100 supports equipment and tools for people with sensory and other disorders;

• $25 provides a resource for the Parent’s Corners;

• $200 Wilkinson Family Collection, garden maintenance, technology.
