Aurora Carillon Lions starts

Lions Clubs International District 1-J’s newest club, Aurora Carillon Lions Club, debuted October 15 with a charter luncheon celebration in Naperville. Aurora Noon Lions sponsored Carillon.

After a welcome and introduction of guests, Lion member Carol Pogue read the invocation from Lou Scanlon, chaplain at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. Charter members were inducted following lunch. They are Elaine Dugan, Polly Elifson, Lou Ann Hoffman, Barbara Javaras, service chair; Ken Koepke, treasurer; Susan Koepke, Randy Liveris, Vanessa Liveris, president; Sandra Lulay, Karen McCann, Anne Metzdorf, Bruce Metzdorf, Linda Morgan, Carol Pogue, Philip Pogue, vice president; Lou Scanlon, Mitchell Schultz, Sandy Virella and Shirley Zemansky, secretary.

After charter members were inducted, officers were installed and the club’s charter was presented and accepted.

Guest speaker was Lori Chassee, District 1-J governor. Other dignitaries attending were Joanne Barsanti, Guiding Lion; James Liceaga, Southeast Chair, Lions District 1-J, Zones 1-2; Shweta Baid, Aurora 10th Ward alderwoman; and Arvid Meyer, president, Aurora Noon Lions Club.

Following Chassee’s remarks, gift presentations concluded the program. Gifts included a club banner from Chassee, $100 from Aurora Noon Lions and a gavel by an anonymous donor.
