Former Aurora Ward 4 alderman Rick Lawrence criticizes a proposed plan for the Aurora Housing Authority to build another complex on the former Jericho Circle property at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday. He said he was visiting his daughter in Colorado and was being contacted by residents of the Fourth Ward and came back to object to plans. Lawrence said with no amenities, no transportation, and being isolated, in the past even HUD stated that location wasn’t suitable for any type of housing. He said, the mayor has been doing some really good things. If that gets built, your legacy will be the guy that rebuilt Jericho Circle.

Nearly 50-year Aurora resident and business owner Al Olieh said gas stations are the most taxed entity in the city of Aurora at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday. He said he loves Aurora and thanked the Council for the good job they’re doing. He said gas stations pay motor fuel tax plus the state tax. He said on holidays, the Aurora Finance Department wants the gas stations to pay the tax on weekends. By Federal law, if the tax day falls on the weekend, the tax day moves to Monday. He said in Aurora, if the tax day falls on Sunday, they want you to pay on Friday. If you don’t pay on Friday, you get a heavy penalty.
