Aldermen for the city of Aurora government voted unanimously to pass the $434 Million budget while aldermen voted 8-3 against giving a tax rebate to Aurora residential property owners at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday.

Mayor of Aurora, Richard Irvin, was hoping to use $2 Million from the sale of the Fox Valley Golf Course for refunds. The amount was estimated as approximately $60 to $100 per residential property owner. Carl Franco, 5th Ward; Mike Saville, 6th Ward; and Sherman Jenkins, alderman-at-large voted in favor of the rebate.

Sentiments from aldermen voting against the rebate included concerns the city government has too many future expenses and obligations.

The 2019 budget includes the addition of six police officers and two firefighters.
