Aurora Downtown will seek an executive director to replace the organization’s manager.
Formed in 1975, the downtown group was most recently run by current manager Marissa Amoni, who took on the role of manager a handful of years after originally being hired as the group’s event coordinator.
Amoni recently resigned from the organization after launching Marissa Bright, a public relations and event management company that focuses on local businesses and nonprofits.
“I’m excited on two fronts. It’s energizing to start my own business, and I’m anxious to see Aurora Downtown continue to grow,” Amoni said.
Amoni worked for the organization for more than a decade. During her tenure, Amoni said she focused on events and marketing to build up downtown. “There’s been a lot to showcase over the last 10 plus years, including renewed energy and passion in downtown, which has likely helped more than any one thing,” she said.
“I’m grateful to have been part of downtown during such a significant period of growth,” Amoni added.
In the published job description, Aurora Downtown’s board of directors “seeks a dynamic community leader interested in spearheading” the work of the group.. The board is presently led by chair Brian Failing, executive director of Aurora Regional Fire Museum.
The downtown group is currently accepting applications for the full time position. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
