The Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board and Fiestas Patrias volunteers and parade participants receive honors at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday at City Hall. Fiestas Patrias drew an attendance of more than 20,000. Hispanic Heritage celebration, September 15 to October 15, will conclude with a networking event at the recently-opened El Jefe Restaurant on North Lake Street. In other business at the City Council meeting, a resolution was passed to accept a grant from the State government of $750,000 to complete the restoration of the Aurora Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Memorial Museum in downtown Aurora, and a resolution was passed to authorize the purchase of security system hardware, software, and services not to exceed $1,825,209.
