Aurora Police Department Task Force Special Agent Receives Commendation for Seizure of Dangerous Drugs

The Aurora Police Department is proud to announce that special agent Matthew Huber, of the Aurora Police Department, received two separate commendations from the Illinois MEG Directors Task Force Commanders Association earlier this month.

Special agent Huber is assigned to the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DuMEG), which is an initiative through a federal program known as the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA). DuMEG is a county-wide management approach linking local, county, state, and federal police agencies to pro-actively combat illicit drug trafficking within DuPage County, Ill.. The Aurora Police Department provides one officer to DuMEG. Special agent Huber, who has served with DuMEG for over two years, has been with the Aurora Police Department for 16 years.

In one of the cases, special agent Huber was honored for his investigative skills where he recovered 20,107 grams of cannabis, 19,098 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 269 grams of cocaine, more than 500 THC carts, six firearms, and $303,524.00 in U.S. currency. As a result of his efforts, 3 offenders were charged with multiple Class X and Class Super X felonies. These charges were brought forth by the Illinois Attorney Generals Office.

In another case, special agent Huber was honored for his investigative skills where he recovered 1,259 grams of cocaine, 4,575 grams of counterfeit Alprazolam pills, 260 grams of methamphetamine pills, various additional controlled substances, $18,513 in U.S. currency, and a pill press machine. One offender was charged with multiple Class X and Class Super X felonies. These charges were brought forth by the Illinois Attorney Generals Office.
