The Aurora Police Department is excited to welcome its first bloodhound K-9 Sadie. Sadie is paired with K-9 Handler Officer Grant Weil, a six-year veteran of the Aurora Police Department. They are both assigned to the Community Oriented Policing Unit. Ofc. Weil and K-9 Sadie were paired together in July 2023, starting an extensive eight-week training program at the Kane County Sheriff’s K-9 Academy. Unlike other K-9’s, K-9 Sadie is a single purpose dog that is primarily used for locating missing persons. K-9 Sadie can additionally be used for locating criminal suspects.
