Aurora University’s annual Christmas concert Dec. 5

Aurora University will present “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” the Music Department’s annual Christmas concert, Sunday, Dec. 5.

Performances will be at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Crimi Auditorium in the Institute for Collaboration, 1347 Prairie Street in Aurora. The public is invited. Admission and parking are free.

Lisa Fredenburgh, Aurora University director of choral activities, said “Our festive concert will feature traditional holiday melodies and favorite carols. Featured will be a collection of upbeat holiday tunes from Spanish, English, and other European traditions.”

The program will include “In Dulci Jubilo,” by Michael Praetorius; “Patapan,” arranged by Kirke Meachem; “Los Peces en el Ri’o,” arranged by Nita Sinaga; and “We Three Kings” and “Coventry Carol,” arranged by Darmon Meador.

Additionally, Northside Brass will perform and the AU pipe organ will make its traditional appearance with Dr. Naomi Rowley at the manuals.

Doors will open about 30 minutes prior to the event start time. A check- in with an Aurora University staff member upon arrival is requested.

Based on current pandemic guidelines, face coverings are required indoors for everyone on campus, regardless of vaccinated status.

Attendees may park in parking lots and the parking garage without a campus parking permit.

Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis with reservations. Open seats will be released to individuals without reservations approximately 10 minutes prior to the event begins. To register, call 630-844-4924 or send to artsandideas@aurora.edu.
