Aurora Vets Week events planned for May 19-28

Vets Week organizers in Aurora, Aurora Veterans Advisory Committee, met recently to plan events.
Aurora’s Vets Week will run May 19 28.
Vets week events will include:
• Saturday, May 19, Picnic At Cool Acres, Aurora. Veterans and their families will eat free of charge while they enjoy a concert by the American Legion Band.
• Sunday, May 20, 5K run at Phillips Park, Aurora.
• Monday, May 21, Veteran Resource Fair at the Prisco Center, Aurora.
• Tuesday, May 22, Women Veterans Empowerment EXPO presented by the Illinois Department of Veteran Affairs.
• Wednesday, May 23, You’re a Grand Old Flag will be at the Santori Public Library of Aurora.
• Thursday, May 24, Drive Thru BBQ at IBEW 461 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Aurora.
• Friday, May 25, Veteran recognition night to honor all who served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the global war on terrorism, presented by the Illinois Department of Veteran Affairs.
• Saturday, May 26, Cruise night at West Aurora Plaza from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.. There will be no entry fee.
• Sunday, May 27, Monument dedication and two names will be added at Phillips Park.
• Monday, May 28, Aurora Memorial Day parade will step-off at noon at the intersection of Benton and River Streets.
