The City of Aurora government, in partnership with the Mayor’s Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board and Aurora GreenLights, an affiliate of The Conservation Foundation, will celebrate the return of Aurora GreenFest Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..

The free, family-friendly event, which is returning following a one-year hiatus, will be bigger and better than ever, as more than 100 exhibitors will be on hand, helping festival goers to learn more about energy efficiency and saving the planet.

This year’s theme “Make a Difference! Be Energy Smart!” will be on full display throughout the festival, as special exhibits will provide community members with resources about how to save energy in homes, information about rebates for household items, and “do it yourself” project demonstrations.

Organizations such as the Chicago Herpetological Society and Fox Valley Electric Auto Association will be in attendance, educating individuals on wildlife conservation efforts and the benefits of driving an electric vehicle, respectively. The community marketplace, a staple of the festival, will also return, featuring a number of vendors providing products that can make homes more beautiful, healthy, and energy efficient.

“GreenFest is an amazing way to keep our community sustainable and resilient,” Festival founder and chairwoman, Mavis Bates, said. “We love bringing our community together to celebrate sustainability, and appreciate Aurora’s support for GreenFest since 2010.”
