Each year we are dazzled by exploding Autumn leaves which fill our minds, camera lenses, and our senses. We look for the red, golden, brown, mixed with lingering green to give us excitement and to take our breaths away. The view on this page is at Willow Lake at McCoy Drive and Frontenac Street, in Aurora, in DuPage County, just east of the Kane County line. There will be more colorful displays this Autumn which will lead to falling leaves. The long Summer days are distant memories and the absence of the Sun urges the colorful displays. The lack of sunshine leads to a breakdown of chlorophyll and the red color is ushered into view. The red color comes from a pigment called anthocynin and brings joyful views. The middle of October often is the best time for a mixture of colors. Jason Crane/The Voice
