Batavia’s fun Summer event, Windmill Festival, July 7-9

Participants likely will be ready for some sizzling Summer fun with steps right up to the Windmill City Festival. Batavia’s largest Summer event will return, July 7-9.

The carnival fun on Houston Street, along with tasty food and beverages, live musical entertainment, several competitions, games, and activities for all ages.

Organized by the Batavia Park District and the City of Batavia government, Windmill City Festival will return to downtown Batavia. The Festival will be open, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, July 7, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 8, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 9.

Returning to rock Batavia will be some of Chicago’s favorite bands, including The Wayouts, Modern Day Romeos, Radio Gaga and Lounge Puppets. Whether they are playing rock ‘n’ roll, pop, country, or other rhythmic sounds, these and other crowd-pleasing bands stir up outstanding shows! Many traditions are returning to Windmill City Festival in addition to the great music and popular carnival rides. There will be activities for everyone, from babies to pets!

Tee-off will be across Depot Pond in the Golf Challenge, to compete for prizes for a hole-in-one. Or, entry for pets will be in a charming Pet Competition, where furry and not-so-furry pets can compete in five categories: Best Kisser, Best Trick, Highest Jump, Best Costume and Most Unusual.

The Batavia Mother’s Club Foundation will be host to an adorable Diaper Derby, where babies participate in a crawling race.

Participants can share their artistic flair at the Sidewalk Chalk Drawing Contest to draw what is loved in Batavia. Artists of all ages can compete to win “People’s Choice” and “Best of Batavia” categories.

Returning this year will be the Windmill Whirl 5K race along the Fox River. This race will start at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 9. Runners, ages 21 and up, can enjoy a craft beer from Energy City Brewing after the race.

All three days of the Festival participants can duck into the Depot Museum to cool off, learn items of Batavia’s fascinating history, and shop for unique Batavia merchandise and see what’s new!
